Mason Wilmot’s journey into the world of homebuilding began at just 15 years old, when most teenagers were still figuring out high school hallways—he was already on construction sites, toolbelt fastened and eyes wide open. Apprenticing beside some of the most talented tradespeople—what many would rightfully call true artists of residential construction—Mason fell in love with the craft early. These hands-on experiences laid the foundation not just for technical skill, but for his signature appreciation of detail, form, and lasting quality.

He got his start in exterior renovations, mastering everything from siding and roofing to framing and finishes. But even then, Mason wasn’t just fixing homes—he was quietly studying them. Line by line, beam by beam, he was imagining better. Bolder. More bespoke. And it didn’t take long before that dream turned into a calling: to design and build custom homes that are as breathtaking as they are functional.

Fast forward to today, Mason is the Founder and CEO of Land and Lake Custom Homes Ltd., a boutique homebuilding company known for its unique designs and dedication to craftsmanship across Southwestern Ontario. And he’s not building it alone. Partnering with his wife, Shawna McFadyen—a skilled Realtor, design enthusiast, and eternal optimist—the two are redefining what it means to create a home. Mason brings the structure, Shawna brings the soul, and together they bring dream homes to life.
